MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based programme that helps you develop practical skills to manage stress, anxiety and the challenges of everyday life.
Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn developed MBSR in the late 1970s. The programme combines mindfulness meditation, gentle movement and body awareness to help you respond to life’s pressures with greater calm, clarity and resilience.
Whether you’re looking to reduce stress, improve your emotional wellbeing or simply find healthier ways to cope with everyday life, MBSR offers practical techniques you can use every day. Many people living with chronic pain, long-term health conditions, anxiety or depression also find the programme beneficial alongside their medical care.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the course, I’ll guide you through a range of mindfulness practices, including:
- Body Scan Meditation – Gently bringing awareness to different areas of the body to release physical tension and encourage deep relaxation.
- Sitting Meditation – Learning to notice your thoughts, emotions and breathing with curiosity and without judgement.
- Mindful Movement – Using gentle stretches and movements to improve body awareness while encouraging relaxation and flexibility.
- Everyday Mindfulness – Exploring simple techniques that fit naturally into daily life, helping you feel calmer, more present and better able to manage stress.
Benefits of MBSR
Over time, many people notice positive changes, including:
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Better emotional wellbeing
- Improved sleep
- Greater resilience during challenging times
- Increased self-awareness and self-compassion
- Improved focus and concentration
- A stronger sense of calm and balance
